The Department of Forestry Technology is one of the newly created Departments in the Institution that was established in October, 2011. This was as a result of the grant of interim accreditation by the NBTE in August, 2011. The students were 1st admitted into the programme for the 2011/2012 session.

specific objectives
i.Survey, plot and demarcate an area for forestry projects.
ii.Establish nursery for both forestry and horticultural seedling production.
iii.Identify useful trees, shrubs and herbs of economic importance in forestry.
iv. Measure and calculate volume of wood on a given site.
v.Assist in afforestation projects.
vi.Assist in establishment of forest plantation: -Carry out various forest operation such as planting, weeding, pruning, thinning, fire-tracing, etc. at the appropriate time.
vii.Identify disease symptoms in the nurseries and in plantations.
viii.Operate and maintain various forestry tools and equipment.
ix.Harvest forest resources.
x.Produce simple furniture items.
xi.Prepare simple annual work calendar.
xii.Participate in community forestry extension programme
about the head of department
Musa Sani is currently pursuing his M.sc. Forestry & Wildlife (Forest Biology/Silviculture) from Federal University Dutsin-ma. He obtained his first degree in Forestry (B.Forestry) at Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto in the year2006. He worked with various Non Governmental Organizations. He joined the service of Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic in the year2015. He had been SIWES coordinator of the Department from 2017 to 2018. He has been the Head of the Department from 2018 to date. He is married with three children
