Deputy Rector

The current Deputy Rector is Aminu Kallah Doro, born on 10th March, 1965 at Doro in Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State. He holds ND General Agriculture-1986; HND Horticulture and Landscape Technology-1994; PGD Environmental Management-1998; TTC Agricultural Education-2002; M. Sc. Crop Science-2008. Doro joined the Polytechnic service in 1986 as Agricultural Superintendant and rose through the ranks to the post of Principal Agricultural Superintendant in 1994, the time when he changed his cadre to Principal Instructor II. The officer continued on this cadre progressively till he attained the rank of Chief Instructor in 2005. Following his successful completion of M. Sc. Crop Science in 2008, and the fulfillment of other requirements, he changed his cadre to the post of Principal Lecturer. Doro became Chief Lecturer on 1st January, 2012. On the recommendation of the Selection Committee and the Rector, the Polytechnic Governing Council appointed him as Deputy Rector, Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Katsina, on 29th October, 2019. Doro is happily married with children.

Doro has held several responsibilities in the Polytechnic among which are:

Acting Farm Manager-1994 to 1995

Assistant Examination officer-1996 to 1998

Examination officer- 1998 to 2002

Programme Co-ordinator, HND Crop Production Technology-2006

Head of Department, Agricultural Technology-2006 to 2013

Acting Director, College of Agriculture-2010

Director, College of Agriculture-2014 to 2018

Acting Director, Consultancy Services LTD. – 21st May to 28th October, 2019

Deputy Rector-29th October, 2019 to Date

Chairman/Member to several Committees in the Polytechnic

Doro had so far visited the People’s Republic of China, Dubai, Egypt, Ethiopia, Chad and Sudan on educational matters and Saudi Arabia on religious.

Achievement:

i)                    Doro gave a sound co-ordination to the successful mounting of HND Crop Production Technology Programme in 2006.

ii)                  He gave a sound co-ordination to the successful establishment of the Department of Animal Health and Production Technology in 2008.

iii)                Gave a sound co-ordination to the successful establishment of the Department of Forestry Technology in 2011.

iv)                He was a party to the successful establishment of the Department of Home and Rural Economics in 2011.

v)                  Throughout his tenure as the Head of Department, he never failed any of the NBTE’s Accreditation or Re-accreditation exercises notably: HND CPT Resource visitation/Accreditation in 2006 and 2008 respectively; ND AHPT Resource visitation/Accreditation in 2008 and 2010 respectively; ND FOT Resource visitation in 2011; ND HRE Resource visitation in 2011.

 

vi)                During his tenure as Director of the College, he secured and successfully organized a National training programme in the Institution for 300No. Graduate Un-employed Youths, sponsored by UNDP/FGN/FADAMA AF-III in 2017.
