COLLEGE DIRECTOR, Muhammad Jalaluddeen Maiwada

The College started as Department of Administration and Management Studies in 1979 under the former Katsina College of Arts Science and Technology. At that time it offered two (2) year Advanced Certificate Courses in Administrative and Business Studies and a one (1) year introductory course in commercial subjects. National Diploma Programme started in 1980 while advanced certificate courses were stopped in 1982. In 1983 the Department transformed to a School of Administration and Business studies (SABS) when the College of Arts, Science and Technology was converted to a Polytechnic. The School consisted of five Academic Departments viz: Department of Accounting, Department of Business Administration, Department of Public Administration, Department of Languages and General Studies and Department of Secretarial Studies. The school was converted to a College of Administration and Management Studies in 1990 when a re-organization of the Academic Units was undertaken. At present the College is made up of four Academic Departments as follows:- Department of Accounting, Department of Business Administration, Department of Secretarial Studies and Department of Public Administration. Both Full-Time and Part-Time programmes are offered. The part-time programmes started in 1995.

 Objectives 

a.       To provide technicians and technologists level of
manpower with theoretical/technical expertise in business industry, commerce
and government who can effectively perform optimum functions in the field of
accountancy, insurance, banking and in all financial institutions.

b.      To provide middle – level administration and
management diplomats with sound theoretical and practical knowledge to carry
out a range of activities in business concern effectively for the public and
private enterprises.

c.       To produce middle level manpower for the running of
efficient and effective administration in the public service and private sector
and administrative technologists capable of assuming leadership roles in public
administration management in Nigeria.

d.      To equip students with office technological and secretarial
skills in various fields of endeavour with effective work competencies and socio-psychological
work skills which are very essential in everyday interactions with others.

Muhammad Jalalu Maiwada, a holder of Bsc. Political Science (BUK), Master in Public Administration and (PhD in Public Administration in view) from (ABU Zaria), joined the services of Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic on 14th April, 1994, as Assistant Lecturer. He is presently a Chief Lecturer and Director College of Administration and Management Studies.
